Betty Hearlden Calvert Wright
Funeral services for Betty Hearlden Calvert Wright, 73, of Bremen will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Ryans Creek Baptist Cemetery.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wright died Monday, March 19 at her residence.
Ella Calvert Auston
Ella Calvert Auston, 91, went to be with her Heavenly family on Sunday, March 18, 2007.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Auston; a daughter, Mary Ella Auston Morton; her parents, Rev. Sim Calvert and Martha Jane Aaron Calvert, all of Good Hope in Cullman County; four brothers, Edgar, Ervin and Ellis Calvert, all of Good Hope, and the Rev. Everette Calvert of Boaz; and three sisters, Essie C. Henry of Good Hope, Ethel C. Giles of Texas and Eva Calvert of Birmingham and Good Hope.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Auston Pigford Morrow and husband, John, of Birmingham; grandsons, David Morton, wife, Francine and daughter, Alexa of Good Hope, Patrick Morton, wife, Becki and children, Christian and Katherine of Vinemont; granddaughter, Beth Morton Chance of Susan Moore; brother, the Rev. Emory Calvert and wife, Margie Ruth of Smith Lake and Maryville, Tenn.; and a wonderful family of nieces and nephews.
She was a licensed practical nurse who worked in Cullman at the old Cullman Hospital, BMC Princeton and Brookwood Hospitals in Birmingham, and then returned to Cullman to work at Woodland Hospital before retirement.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Good Hope Baptist Church, the Rev. Ralph Andrews officiating, with interment in Good Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Auston will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Hanceville Nursing Home, Hospice of Cullman County, and Dr. Henry Beeler, for their compassionate and professional care.

Visitation will be at Good Hope Baptist Church on Wednesday during the lie-in-state time.
Fannie Roberta Bradford Manning
Fannie Roberta Bradford Manning, known affectionately as “Grann,” passed away at home in Vinemont, on Sunday, March 18, 2007, from complications of cancer. Roberta was born on Sept. 5, 1925, in Vinemont. She attended Vinemont School and Cullman High School. In 1979, she, her daughter and her son-in-law opened Wholesale Jewelers International, where she worked for 25 years until her retirement in 2004.
Roberta was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda; her husband, James; her brother, Charles Edward Bradford; and her parents, Addison Andrew Bradford and Edna Elizabeth Ridgeway Bradford.
Roberta is survived by her granddaughter, Candace Ursula Grissom; her son-in-law, David Grissom, both of Vinemont; a brother, Jack (Betty Allred) Bradford of Taft, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Jayne Coates (Edward) Bradford of Birmingham; and a host of other family and friends around the Cullman area.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Moss-Service Funeral Home.
Funeral services will also be at Moss-Service at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007, and will be presided over by the Rev. Charles Irwin of Longview Church of God in Vinemont, where Roberta was a lifelong member, with burial to follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dwight Ransom, Russell White, Hal Grey, Richard Olson, Johnny Bradford and Albert Ridgeway.

Joseph Victor Martin
Funeral services for Joseph Victor Martin, 25, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Mt. Grove Baptist Church, the Rev. Tommy Graves officiating, with burial in Mt. Grove Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Mr. Martin died Saturday, March 17 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He was born on March 1, 1982, in Cullman to Rusty C. and Judy Martin Fields.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Max Martin; and his paternal grandparents, R.C. and Patricia Fields.
Survivors include his wife, Devan Martin of Hanceville; a son, Austin Max Martin of Hanceville; his parents; a brother, Michael David Martin of Holly Pond; a sister, Kimber Lee Dover of Hanceville; four brothers, Nick, Ron and Cody Fields, and Dean Fanning, all of Hanceville; his grandmother, Eva Martin; two nephews, Harlee and Jeremiah Martin; and two uncles, Raymond and Kenneth Martin.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Brizentine, Chris “Bubba” Gerstman, William Gibson, Marcus Hyatt, Mark Campbell, John Allen Watson, Brian Rice and Isaac Bice.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Dorothy A. Anderson Reese
Funeral services for Dorothy A. Anderson Reese, 68, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, Paul Campbell officiating, with interment in Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville.

Mrs. Reese died Saturday, March 17 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born on Oct. 4, 1938, in Hanceville to George Edward and Glennie Irene Milligan Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse M. Reese; two sons, David and Timothy Reese; two brothers, James Earl and Edward Anderson; and six sisters, Flora Dean Hunter, Judy Garrison, Ruby Faye Knighten, Bobbie Jo Martin, Essie Mae Anderson and Opal Knighten.
Survivors include daughter, JoAnn (Tom) Hesterley of Hanceville; two sons, Jesse (Esther) Reese of Gold Ridge and Kenneth (Patsy) Reese of Crane Hill; two sisters, Betty Isbell and Glenda Sansing; four brothers, Clyde Anderson, Paul Ray Anderson, Rodger Anderson and Ronnie Anderson; eight grandchildren, Amanda Hill, Jessica Reese, Jacob Reese, Ashley Reese, Karlie Beth Reese, Elizabeth Watwood, Katrina Jester and John Michael Hesterley; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Monday.
Susan Katherine Treadwell Smallwood
Graveside services for Susan Katherine Treadwell Smallwood, 59, of Carbon Hill will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Hartselle.

Mrs. Smallwood died Sunday, March 18.

Frances Estelle Powell
Graveside services for Frances Estelle Powell, 86, of Decatur will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery in Eva, Mike Thomas officiating.

Mrs. Powell died Sunday, March 18 at Decatur General Hospital.
Dearleen Mashburn
Funeral services for Dearleen Mashburn, 78, of Warrior, were Monday, March 19, 2007, at Messmer-Goodwin Funeral Home. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery, with Bro. Thomas Graves officiating.

Mrs. Mashburn passed away on Friday, March 16.
Survivors include her husband, Houston Mashburn of Warrior; two sons, Ron Wood of Guntersville and Larry R. Wood Sr. of Warrior; two daughters, Melba Wood (Richard) Tumlin of Florence, S.C., and Sandra Wood (Justin) Hasting of Daphne; two sisters, Vera Lee Folds of Cullman and Lillie Hasenbein of Fort Carson, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Sunday at the funeral home.
