William Edward Pettus

Graveside services for William Edward Pettus, 79, of Decatur, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Bethlehem East Cemetery in Hanceville.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Pettus died Friday, March 16 at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Decatur. He was the son of the late William C. and Birdie Poss Pettus.

Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca Johns, Sarah Pettus and Ester Cooksey; four sons, David Pettus of Hanceville, Paul Pettus of Birmingham, Mark Pettus of Cullman and John Pettus of Smokerise; a brother, Daniel Pettus of Russellville; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Pearl Lena Lindsey Norris

Funeral services for Pearl Lena Lindsey Norris, 93, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Flint Creek Baptist Church, Bros. Walter Green and Allen Kuykendall officiating, with burial Flint Creek Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Norris died Friday, March 16 at her residence. She was born on Oct. 3, 1913, in Cullman County to Claude and Clara Loyd Lindsey. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E.C. “Cordie” Norris; two brothers, Pete and “Cotton” Lindsey; three grandchildren, Yvette and Peggy Ann Pye and Timothy Norris; a great-grandson, Emery Jaron Smith; and a son-in-law, Ray Pye.

Survivors include five sons, Earl Norris, Gerald (Vonda) Norris, Jimmy (Marsha) Norris, Larry (Cecelia) Norris and Randy (Sherry) Norris; four daughters, Jayne Pye, Shelby (Edsel) Hale, Joyce (Clifford) Smith and Faye (Allen) Kuykendall; a brother, Johnny Lindsey; two sisters, Neal (Atla) Drake and Loraine Groves; 21 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Norris’ grandsons.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Mary L. (nee Boles) Wittlock

Mary L. (nee Boles) Wittlock, a resident of Cullman, formerly of Chicago, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2007. Beloved wife of the late Charles “Bob” Wittlock, she was the dear mother of Sandi (Jim) Szalony of Schaumburg, Ill., Scott (Barbara) Wittlock of Burr Oak, Mich., Geri (Jim) Norton of Cumming, Ga., Gary (Kathy) Wittlock of Cullman and Steven Wittlock of Bevidere, Ill., cherished grandmother of 12; and great-grandmother of three; dearest sister of Barbara (Truman) McCurley of Tulsa, Okla.; and fond aunt of many.

She was the most proud of her nursing career where she accomplished the pinnacle of being director of nursing at Our Lady of Resurrection Hospital in Chicago and was published in “Who’s Who of World Nursing.” Her life passions consisted of scouting, camping, scrapbooking, genealogy and her World Wide Web pals.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Father Kevin McGrath officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.



Frankie Wayne Johnson

Funeral services for Frankie Wayne Johnson, 49, of Crane Hill, will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Patrick Cleghorn officiating, with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Crane Hill.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johnson died Thursday, March 15 at his residence. He was born on June 27, 1957, to Troy and Azalee Phillips Johnson. He was a self-employed trucker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Carol Arzo Johnson; his grandparents, Dan and Martha Lou Johnson and Ben and Perlie Phillips.

Survivors include two daughters, Natasha (Garrett) Bennefield and Dana Johnson; two brothers, Donald Johnson and Charles (Connie) Johnson; two sisters, Ludie Ann (Joe) Crook and Janice (C.L.) Sweatmon; six nieces, Tracey Wooten, Stefanie Bagwell, Jayme Guthrie, Jessica Cooper, Jenna Johnson and Josey Johnson; and five nephews, Jason Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Wesley Sweatmon, Jared and Kelly Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Cullman County or Gideon’s International.

Pallbearers will be Jared Johnson, Kelly Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Wesley Sweatmon, Thomas Wooten and Westley Bagwell.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today.



A.R. Brannan

Funeral services for A.R. Brannan, 94, of Cullman, will be at 2 p.m. today, March 17, 2007, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Ray Latham officiating, with burial in Welti Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Brannan died Thursday, March 15 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 24, 1912, in Alabama to Robert Lonnie and Hester Scoggins Brannan. He was a retired educator.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth Brannan; a brother, Rufus Brannan; and an infant sister.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy (Doug) Burdette and Patricia (David) Stricklin; a son, Max (Betty) Brannan; four grandchildren, Tina Brannan Horton, Joan Brannan, Jacob Stricklin, Alexis Jacobs; and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Kaleb and Hunter Horton.

Visitation was Friday.



Flora Harbison

Funeral services for Flora Harbison, 93, of Hanceville, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Gary Harbison and Dwayne Harbison officiating, with burial in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Harbison died on Thursday, March 15, at her residence. She was born on Jan. 2, 1914, to Charles Conrad and Bertha D. Mitchell Webb. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Harbison; a grandson, Keith Calloway; a stepson, Duell Harbison Sr.; and a daughter, Glenda Wallace.

Survivors include a son, Frank Harbison; two daughters, Lorene Lemmond and Faye Harbison; two sisters, Nellie Odom and Mamie Knight; nine grandchildren, Duell Harbison Jr., Trent Harbison, Gary Harbison, Dwayne Harbison, Steve Harbison, Lynn Phillips, Carol Burgess, Terry Calloway and Barbara Richards; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Charlcie M. Vickery

Charlcie M. Vickery, 94, of Cullman, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at her residence. She was born on Sept. 18, 1912, to Anthony and Clemintine Sinyard Roden.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, March 17, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Chaplain LaRue Caraway officiating, with interment in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mrs. Vickery was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur Edward Vickery; a son, Ted Vickery; and a brother, Lester Roden.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Tucker (Gilbert) and Joan Williams Sanders (Gary); a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday.
