Ulys D. Walker
Funeral services for Ulys D. Walker will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, 2007 at Bethlehem West Baptist Church. His body will lie in state for one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Crossroads Cemetery. Tim Aris and Kelton Williams will officiate. Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Walker passed away on Friday, Jan. 19, 2007 at his residence in Cullman. He was born on Nov. 16, 1919 in Cullman County. He was a World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.H. Walker; mother, Emma Walker; two brothers, Arvil A. Walker and Other J. Walker; and one sister, Itolean Walker.
He is survived by his wife, Emily Ruth Blackmon Walker of Cullman; two sons, Larry J. Walker and Cortez (Cleo) Walker, both of Cullman; four grandsons, Scott A. Walker of Anderson, Ind., Derek E. Walker of Daytona Beach, Fla., John Yost of Lake City, Pa. and Tyler Yost of Lake City, Pa.; three great-grandsons, Zach H. Walker of Anderson, Ind., Bryan Yost of Waterford, Pa. and Tyler Yost of Waterford, Pa.; and three great-granddaughters, Taylor Walker of Anderson, Ind., Mia Walker of Anderson, Ind. and Claire Yost of Lake City, Pa.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.
Jerry Lee Perkins
Funeral services for Jerry Lee Perkins, 66, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Chuck Canterbury officiating.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Perkins died Wednesday, Jan. 17, at his residence. He was born on May 16, 1940. He worked for Nicholson File for 38 years where he progressed to general manager and then quality control manager.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Perkins.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Matthews Perkins; a son, Jerry Lee (Shannon) Perkins II of Cullman; a daughter, Teresa (Steve) Schlosser of Cullman; his mother, Sara Perkins of Sun City, Fla.; a sister, Pat Burroughs of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, Steve (Susan) Perkins of Sun City, Fla.; six grandchildren, Cassandra (James) Samples, Matt Schlosser, Taylor Perkins, Hunter Perkins, Jayden Perkins and Landon Perkins; a great-grandchild, Deacon Samples; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Cullman.
Visitation was Friday.
Raymond Pinson, Jr.
Funeral services for Raymond Pinson, Jr., 60, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, 2007 from the First Baptist Church in Sidney. Ohio with the Rev. George Gnade officiating. Cromes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Williams McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Mr. Pinson passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007 at his residence. He was born on Sept. 17, 1946 in Pikeville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Louis White; his father, Raymond Pinson; his mother, Emily Penson; one sister; and one niece.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Gwyn” Rodgers; five sons, Brad (Brenda) Penson of West Milton, Ohio, Raleigh Pinson of Athens, Ohio, Chad Pinson of Blue Ash, Ohio, Ben (Jessica) Pinson of Loveland, Ohio, and Chris (Heather) Pinson of Fort Mitchell, Ky.; two grandchildren, Chloe and Savannah Pinson; and one brother, Fred Pinson of Atlanta.
Mr. Pinson received his B.A. degree at Eastern Kentucky University and earned a Master’s Degree at Xavier University in Cincinnati. He taught reading at Sidney High School for 31 years. During this time he established a reading program, was instrumetnal in developing Team 9, was a summer school director, athletic director, assistant manager at the city swimming pool, boy scout leader, faculty advisor, assistant freshman football coach, taught Sunday school and taught at First Baptist Church where he held various offices. He was also a teacher in the Sidney City Schools for 31 years before retiring in 2001.
Mr. Pinson’s body will be transported to the Mt. Vernon West Congregational Church in Vinemont where his body will lie in state for one hour before the 2 p.m. local service is held.
Memorials may be made to Wilson Hospice or the First Baptist Church in Raymond Pinson’s memory. Envelopes willbe available at the funeral home.

Paul Milton Barnett
Visitation and funeral services for Paul Milton Barnett, 79, of Vinemont will be at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, and again from 1:30 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Bros. Dennis Trimble and Marvin Brock officiating. Pallbearers will be the deacons of the church.

Mr. Barnett was born on Aug. 30, 1927, and passed away on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 79. He was the son of Fred and Betty Barnett and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 42 years.
Paul was a very outgoing and energetic person, who loved everyone he met. He enjoyed life to the fullest. Even at 74, Paul set a goal to walk from Ebenezer to Hartselle. He was very proud of this accomplishment.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Yeager Barnett; one daughter, Becky (Jimmy) Floyd; three granddaughters, Shannon (Alan) Quick, Sherry (Paul) Chaney and Stefanie Floyd; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Quick, Tanner Quick and Eli Chaney; two sisters, Mildred Barnett Wilhite and Jewel Barnett Scaglione; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Alvin ‘Buddy’ Durham
Funeral services for Alvin “Buddy” Durham, 75, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Tommy Graves and John McCoy officiating, with interment in Mt. Joy Cemetery in Bremen.

Mr. Durham died Thursday, Jan. 18 at his residence. He was the son of the late Preston and Geneva Howard Durham.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Shane York; and a brother, Rayford Durham.
Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Armstrong Durham; two daughters, Marcie (Michael) Rice of Hanceville and Valerie (Greg) Vincent of Cullman; two sons, Darrin (Vickie) White of Hanceville and Alvin Durham Jr. of Florence; a sister, Novella (Harm) Hennings; three brothers, Dallas (Joyce) Durham and Ralph (Pat) Durham; and eight grandchildren, Nicholas (special friend, Chelsea Bollinger) Rice, Nathan (fiancée, Erin Johnson) Rice, Christopher White, Nathalie Rice, Ashley White, Rachel Vincent, Emily Vincent and Whitney Vincent.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. Graveside services will held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery in Eva.

Mrs. Julian died Friday, Jan. 19 in Tuscaloosa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.L. Julian.
Survivors include two sisters, Arnita Hunt of Eva and Lucille Cornett of Tuscaloosa; a sister-in-law, Hilda Cobbs of Rainbow City; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be all of her nephews.
This day brings sadness to our hearts, but we feel her spirit returned to God who gave it. We, the family, are ever grateful for the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her sweet memories will live in our hearts forever. Her laughter was always spontaneous and uplifting. She loved to laugh. We all marveled at her clear mind and strength of soul. She was sweet, kind and tenderhearted. She loved all. Everyone she met was a “peach of a person.”

Survivors include her husband, William A. Sears; a son, Jeffrey (Joan) Sears of Knoxville, Tenn.; a grandson, Conor Sears of Knoxville; and a brother, B. Joe (Sue) Curl of Hanceville.

Mrs. Hunter died Wednesday, Jan. 17 at Church Street Personal Care. She was born on March 13, 1927, in Marengo County to Alvis and Eula Mae Boler Miller. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Samuel H. Hunter.
Survivors include four sons, Rodger (Vaneda) Hunter, Sammy (Virginia Ann) Hunter, Melvin (Vonda) Hunter and Terry (Debra) Hunter; a daughter, Carolyn (Dean) Harris; a brother, James (Audrey) Miller; five sisters, Marie Vick, Rosalee (Walter) Morgan, Ronita Thompson, Betty (J.B.) Phillips and Peggy (Bob) Wesley; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Wade Wallace Gibbs

Mr. Gibbs passed away on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007 at his residence in Hanceville. He was born on Nov. 22, 1952 in Birmingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Marlin and Iva Mae Gibbs.
He is survived by his wife, Robbin Gibbs of Hanceville; two sons, Charlie Gibbs and Timothy Gibbs and Hanceville; two brothers, Charles Gibbs of Pinson and Doug Gibbs of Birmingham; two sisters, Patricia Sulser of Birmingham and Janette Fowler of Huntsville.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.
