Talmadge Willard Franklin

Funeral services for Talmadge Willard Franklin, 86, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at Bethsadia Baptist Church, the Revs. Gary Waddell and Marvin Brock officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Franklin died Tuesday, Dec. 19 at his residence. He was born on March 4, 1920, in Alabama to Tommy and Susie Murphey Franklin. He was retired from the Department of Transportation with the State of Alabama. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a daughter, Patsy Franklin of Cullman; a son, Ronnie Franklin of Cullman; three sisters, Olene Glasscock of Trinity, Faye Scott of Huntsville and Gwen Crooms of Hanceville; a grandchild, Summer Franklin Johnson; and a great-grandchild, Autumn Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bethsadia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in care of Bethsadia Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.



Vercie Lou Hyatt Yeager

Funeral services for Vercie Lou Hyatt Yeager, 79, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at Concord Baptist Church, the Rev. Danny Vincent officiating, with burial in Concord Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Yeager died Tuesday, Dec. 19 at her residence. She was born n Aug. 8, 1927, in Madison County to Lewis Grady and Willie Mae Wright Hyatt. She was in retail sales with Rolane.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Harold Yeager; her parents; and two brothers, Hoyt Hyatt and Cecil Hyatt.

Survivors include four sons, Jerry (Judy) Yeager, Jimmy (Judi) Yeager, Walter (Jill) Yeager and Jackie (Patricia) Yeager; four daughters, Carolyn (Roger) Pope, Susan Widner, Deborah (Marty) Vaughn and Vicki (Bobby) Jackson; a brother, Robin Don Hyatt; four sisters, Opal Fowler, Dean Hagins, Martha Meherg and Barbara Haack; 24 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Hurshel Foster Waldrep

Funeral services for Hurshel Foster Waldrep, 88, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at Welcome Baptist Church, the Revs. Jerry Lake and David Stancil officiating, with burial in Welcome Baptist Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Waldrep died Monday, Dec. 18 at his residence. He was born on June 4, 1918, in Cullman to John Perry and Vianna Hare Waldrep. He was a district director with ASCS. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Elayne Waldrep Ivey; and three sisters, Arah Denney, Eva Bradford and Avonell Hardin.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Byran Waldrep of Cullman; two sons, Don (Diane) Waldrep of Northport and Perry (Regina) Waldrep of Greenville, S.C.; two daughters, Paula (Dan) Henry of Cullman and Theresa (Marcus) Kabel of Ozark, Mo.; a son-in-law, Ronnie Ivey of Cullman; eight grandchildren, Kathy Kirby of Panama City, Fla., Valerie Parker of Huntsville, Clayton Waldrep of Tuscaloosa, Kathleen Boxall of New Market, Va., Lilly Kabel of Ozark, Mo., Susan Henry, Rusty Opacity and Danny Henry, all of Cullman; and nine great-grandchildren, Lauren Crow, Kourtney Whisenant, Tristin Waldrep, Collin Boxall, Lydia Henry, Ben Henry, Sophia Parker, Brenden Boxall and Garrett Henry.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.





Jo Ann Meredith

Funeral services for Jo Ann Meredith, 73, of Fairview were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at Central Baptist Church in Decatur, the Rev. Dr. Rob Jackson officiating, with burial in Roselawn Cemetery.

Roselawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Meredith died Saturday, Dec. 9 at her home. She was born on July 13, 1933, in Caldwell Parish, La., to Trowley J. and Ruby Carpenter Whitten. She will be remembered as a sweet lady, devoted wife, mother and grandmother; and for her ministry for more than 40 years to the three-year-old Sunday School class at Central Baptist Church in Decatur with E.J. Briscoe.

Survivors include her husband, Oliver D. Meredith; one daughter, Cindy (Roger) Parker of Fairview; one granddaughter, Laura Parker of Fairview; one grandson, Paul (Tara) Young of Columbia, Tenn.; her father; two brothers, Guy and Godfrey Whitten; and one sister, Johnnie Whittington, all of Grayson, La.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cullman County, 402 Fourth Ave. NE, Cullman, AL 35055, or Central Baptist Church in Decatur; or the American Cancer Society; or to one’s favorite charity.

Pallbearers were Billy Crosswhite, Cliff Files, Ray Nixon, Marvin Taylor, Erwin Simon and Harold Walrond.

Honorary pallbearer was E.J. Briscoe.



Rev. Kenneth Hester

Funeral services for the Rev. Kenneth Hester, 76, of Arab will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Arab-Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Hester died Monday, Dec. 18 at his residence.
