Emil Lee ‘Buck’ Skipper

Funeral services for Emil Lee “Buck” Skipper, 77, of Cullman are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by Moss-Service Funeral Home. Mr. Skipper died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.



Sarah Delena Baskin Smith

Funeral services for Sarah Delena Baskin Smith, 94, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Ken Allen officiating, with burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Smith died Sunday, Dec. 3, at Woodland Medical Center. She was born on Nov. 1, 1912, in Alabama to John Capius and Mattie Louise Jetton Baskin. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a son, Grady (Cherie Ann) Smith Jr.; a daughter, Louise (Buford) Lowry; four granddaughters, Amy (Brent) Smith, Rebekkah Smith, Martha (Harlan) Green and Annette (Byron) Whitton; four great-grandchildren, Adam (Kendall) Hawkins, Jarod Hawkins, Leslie Hanson and Matt Whitton; and two great-great-grandchildren, Tyler Hawkins and Anna Kayte Hawkins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Good Samaritan Health Care Clinic.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.



Alta Wilson Bell

Funeral services for Alta Wilson Bell, 95, of Arley will be at noon Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at Liberty Baptist Church in Helican, the Rev. DeJuan Reese officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bell died Saturday, Dec. 2 at Pine Place Assisted Living. She was born on May 26, 1911, to William H. and Delia Stewart Wilson. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Clifton Bell; and a son, Eugene Bell.

Survivors include a son, Roy E. (Mary James) Bell of Greenville, S.C.; a brother, Cecil (Dorothy) Wilson of Curry; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steve Bell, Justin Bell, Lucas Bell, Nick Sargent, Carlton Blackwood and Phillip Nazzaro.

Visitation was Monday.



Brelyn Wayne Martin

Funeral services for Brelyn Wayne Martin, 62, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at Moss Service Chapel with burial in Baldwin Heights Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Martin died Dec. 3 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Aug. 14, 1944, to Lanada and Mitchell Martin. He was a maintenance worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Sherlon Martin; son, Mitchell W. Martin; daughters, Carrissa Smitherman and Laurie Turner; brothers, Roney and Johnny Martin; and grandchildren, Vada Turner, Garrett Turner, Brelyn Smitherman, and Sawyer Smitherman.

Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m.



Roy Serl McGriff

Funeral services for Roy Serl McGriff, 77, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home, Dan Anderson officiating, with interment in Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McGriff died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 2, 1929, to Herbert and Onie Blair McGriff. He was a carpenter and a member of Antioch Non-Denominational Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Dewayne, Junior and Billy McGriff.

Survivors include his wife, Nelda McGriff; two sons, Roger (Douglas) McGriff and Robert (Louise) Golden; three daughters, Kaythy (Ronnie) Nelson, Carol (Harvey) Golden and Joy (Mark) Sturgeon; a brother, Charles McGriff; three sisters, Sue Burrow, Evelyn Case and Nell Sanders; 10 grandchildren, Jason McGriff, Charity Winfrey, Katrina Graves, Adam White, Brandi McGriff, Shane Golden, Heath Golden, Kori Golden, Tiffany Sturgeon and Anthony Sturgeon; two great-grandchildren, Madeline Winfrey and Levi McGriff; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Robert Golden, Jason McGriff, Adam White, Shane Golden, Heath Golden and Kori Golden.

Visitation was Monday.



Charles William Wilson

Graveside services with military honors for Charles William Wilson, 61, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bro. Harold Brown officiating.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wilson died Monday, Dec. 4 at his residence. He was born on Nov. 30, 1945, to Troy and Omie Barnett Weeks. He was a painter and served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include two sons, Rusty (Wendy) Weeks and Randall (Angela) Wilson; two daughters, Cassandra (Joey) Byers and Tammy Wilson; four brothers, Wayne Wilson Sr., Talmadge Wilson, H.T. Wilson and Jerry Wilson; a sister, Rosemarie Hartley; five grandchildren, Sage Weeks, Blain Weeks, Ty Weeks, Brittany Byers and Alexis Byers; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Cullman County for their care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Cullman County.

Pallbearers will be Terry Wilson, Billy McDaniel, Gary McDaniel, Chris Burk, Vann Conn, Paul Wilson and Troy Wilson.

Mildred Lovell Nichols

Funeral services for Mildred Lovell Nichols, 77, of Blountsville will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at Valley Chapel of Oneonta, the Rev. Bruce Dial officiating, with burial in New Hope Cemetery No. 2 near Holly Pond.

Valley Chapel of Oneonta is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nichols died Monday, Dec. 4 at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born in Alabama to Emery and Lillie Mae Cook Lovell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Bruce Nichols.

Survivors include her husband, James Nichols of Blountsville; a daughter, Rhonda (Rick) Yeager of Blountsville; a sister, Sue Turner of Holly Pond; a brother, James (Glenda) Lovell of Holly Pond; two grandchildren, Tina (Bill) Rittershaus of Fairfax, Va., and Neil (Jennifer) Yeager of Tuscaloosa; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Ayers, Aaron Ayers, Russell Walker, Gary Ayers, Merlin Cone and Hubert Walker.



Clara Butts

Funeral services for Clara Butts, 79, of Alabaster will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, at Lemley Funeral Chapel, the Rev. David Esco officiating, with burial in South Cemetery in Blountsville.

Lemley Chapel of Oneonta is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Butts died Sunday, Dec. 3 at her residence.
