Feltus Gilley
Funeral services for Feltus Gilley, 80, of the Brooklyn community, will be held Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Brooklyn Presbyterian Church with Jeremy collier officiation. Burial will be held in the adjoining cemetery.
Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gilley died Saturday, Nov. 4, at his home. He was born in Cullman to Garfield Gilley and Annie Belle (Howse) Gilley. He was a retired farmer, and a member of Brooklyn Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Gilley was preceded in death by parents; one son, Jimmy Gilley; two brothers, Wiley and Roy Gilley; and four sisters, Ressie Young, Florence Travis, Susie Mae Holcombe and Hester Gilley.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Dunlap Gilley of Brooklyn; one son, Billy (Tiny) Gilley of Brooklyn; granddaughter Angela Gilley of Brooklyn, grandson Justin Gilley and daughter-in-law Shelia Gilley Woodruff.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Life Care Hospice, 2108 Al. Hwy 157, Cullman, AL., 35058.
Visitation will be today, starting at 5 p.m.
Harold H. Calvert
Graveside services for Harold H. Calvert, 86, of Cullman, will be held Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Cullman Memory Gardens, with Rev. John Richter officiating.
Moss-Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Calvert died Friday, Nov. 3, at UAB West Hospital. He was born March, 29, 1920, to James Marion and Perlie Powell Calvert. He worked as a pipe fitter.
Mr. Calvert was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Ora Lee Childers Calvert, son Dan Calvert, daughter Ann Calvert, sister Marion Reichwein, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Strothy Isam Ryan
Funeral services for Strothy Isam Ryan, 93, of Cullman, will be held at Williams McCracken Funeral Home on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Fellowship Baptist Cemetery.
Williams McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ryan died Friday, Nov. 3, at his residence. He was born Feb. 26, 1913, in Morgan County to Jesse E. Ryan and Mazary Parker Ryan. He was an engineer for the railroad and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.
Mr. Ryan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evye Nichols Ryan, and his brother, Stacy Ryan.
Survivors include his son, David Ryan of Cullman, a daughter, Sheila (John) Campbell of Columbiana; two grandchildren, David Richard Ryan and Christopher (Elizabeth) Campbell; and great grandchildren Connor Campbell and Katie Campbell.
Visitation will be at Williams McCracken Funeral Home on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.
James Madison Persall
Funeral services for James Madison Persall, 61, of Hanceville were held at Williams McCracken Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, at 2 p.m. The clergy will be Javon Daniel. Interment will be in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Mr. Persall died Friday, Nov. 3, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born May, 20, 1945, to Lucus and Myrtie Haynie Persall.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Persall; his son, Patrick Persall; two stepdaughters, Kelly (Jeff) Cornett and Kim (Randall) Thomas; one stepson, Marston Lancaster; two sisters, Jimmie Banks and Florence Fine; eight grandchildren, Nathan Cornett, Chris Cornett, Micheal Cornett, Zachary Thomas, Emilee Thomas, Matthew Lancaster, Tony Lancaster and Jamie Persall, and a host of nieces, nephews and many special friends.
Visitation was held Saturday.
Charles R. Churchill
Funeral services for Charles R. Churchill, 72, of Cullman, are still pending and will be announced at a later day.

Carnis Yeager Abbott
Funeral services for Carnis Yeager Abbott, 86, of Trussville, Ala., will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with Rev, James Long officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery in Fairview.
Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Abbott died Friday, Nov. 3. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Leon W. Abbott and her son, Daniel Leon Abbott. Mrs. Abbott was a member of Trussville First Baptist Church. Mrs. Abbott’s legacy of love for her family, her inner strength, and unwavering faith will live on and on. She had a special gift for loving and nurturing many little children outside her family and had a deep passion for gardening and enjoyed wildlife and bird watching. Twas her thinking of others made you think of her.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda White (Jim) of Jacksonville, Fla., Judy Cheshire (Larry) of Birmingham; sons, Robin Abbott of Hickory, N.C., Larry Abbott (Suzanne) of Birmingham; sister, Wilene McGukin of Cullman,; grandchildren, Danny Cheshire, Paige Whitesell, Brian Abbott; great-grandchildren, Blake and Reagan Cheshire, Payton Whitesell.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, Nov. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. The family would like to express appreciation to New Beacon Hospice for their loving care and compassion.
Marian Watson Calvert
Funeral services for Marian Watson Calvert, 86, of Midfield, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Calvert passed away Saturday, Nov. 4. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Calvert, and they were members of the First Baptist Church of Midfield. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and sister.
Survivors include her sons: Kenneth Calvert (Cheryl) of Anniston, Steve Calvert of Midfield and Gary Calvert of Mt. Olive; grandchildren: Chris Calvert (Marnie), Chae Williams (Chris), Mark Calvert, Corey, Keri and Tyler Calvert; great grandchildren: Caely, Cortney and Chloey Williams and Braden Calvert; brother, Johnny Watson; sisters: Mildred Brashier and Helen Scott.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
