Clyde David Couch
Funeral services for Clyde David Couch, 81, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Theron Robertson and Clennon Shedd officiating, with burial in Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville.
Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Couch died Tuesday, Sept. 19, in Cullman. He was born on May 29, 1925, in Hanceville to Francis Marion and Daisy Ann Whitehead Couch. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps (1943-1946) and the U.S. Air Force (1949-1953). He was a deacon with East Hanceville Baptist Church since 1962.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Flora Elsberry Couch of Hanceville; a son, Tracy Marion Couch of Hanceville; a daughter, Nancy (Mike) Macon of Hanceville; two granddaughters, Melissa Macon Lavett and Melanie Macon; and two grandsons, David Myers and Michael Macon.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Williams and his former co-workers from Central Cabinet Shop.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. today.
Joe ‘Baby Joe’ Hines III
Funeral services for Joe “Baby Joe” Hines III, 59, of Good Hope will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Bro. J.L. Parker and Bishop Jerry Lawson officiating, with interment in Valley Springs Cemetery.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hines passed away on Monday, Sept. 18, at his residence. He retired from Pemco, formerly Hayes Aircraft, in Birmingham after 35 years of service.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Daphney Stewart; three brothers, Vernard, Henry and Jessie Hines; and two sisters, Vinola Waters and Verna Nickens.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lue Mitchell Hines; three daughters, Sherry (Chris) Lucas, Kayla Hines and Donna Stewart; a brother, Frank (Barbara) Hines; three grandchildren, Josh Lucas, Tommy Joe Lucas and Ruby Lucas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express special thanks to Hospice of Cullman County and the United Way and to J.L. Parker, Sister Joan Bryant, Siegy and John Heatherly and S.T. Goodwin.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Sonya Carol Knight Hembree
Funeral services for Sonya Carol Knight Hembree, 51, of Vinemont will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at Moss-Service Funeral Home, Bro. Jimmy Taylor officiating.

Mrs. Hembree passed away on Sunday, Sept. 17 at Cullman Regional Medical Center, ending a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Cullman to Obie and Glenda Hyatt Knight. She was a graduate of Cullman High School, attended Wallace State Community College, completed the Cumberland School of Law paralegal certification program, and received her registered health underwriters designation from American College. Her vocational career included legal secretary for Jackson and Williams Attorneys at Law in Cullman; and legal assistant for Spain Gillon Law Firm in Birmingham. She then entered the insurance field becoming associated with Clinton L. Frey and Associates in Cullman, later opening the Sonya Hembree Agency, Inc., in Cullman. Her most recent employment was as corporate sales representative with CorrWireless in Cullman.
Her adult life was dedicated in service to her community, serving as a member/officer in numerous civic organizations including Business and Professional Women’s Club; Pilot Club; volunteer advocate with Cullman County’s Center for Domestic Violence Task Force; Board of Directors/president for Victim Services of Cullman County; and holding many offices in the Cullman County Chamber of Commerce including president of the Board of Directors and interim executive vice president. As a member of the Leadership Cullman Organization, she was instrumental in initiating the mentor program for elementary students and served on the Board of Directors for Volunteers in Public Schools – “VIPs.”
She was preceded in death by her father, Obie Knight; her stepfather, Bill Watts; her father-in-law, O.H. “Pete” Hembree; her grandparents, Shelley Hyatt, Cordie Hyatt, Tom and Florence Knight; and a stepbrother, Jeffery Lynn Watts.
Survivors include her husband, Kerry Hembree of Vinemont; daughter, Amy (Brent) Smith of Jacksonville, Ala.; her mother, Glenda Knight Watts of Cullman; her mother-in-law, Doris Hembree of Vinemont; a sister, Shari (John) Hurt of Yazoo City, Miss.; a brother-in-law, Randy Hembree of Vinemont; three nephews, Jason (Ashley) Hurt of Ridgeland, Miss., Joseph Hurt of Yazoo City, Miss., and Luke Hembree of Vinemont; two nieces, Tracey O’Brien and Marcie Drummond; a great-nephew, Austin Hurt of Ridgeland, Miss.; four stepbrothers, Dale (Renee) Watts of Lithia, Fla., Davey Watts of Mt. Morris, Mich., Darrel (Donna) Watts of New Windsor, Md., and Jack (Linda) Watts of Alvin, Texas; a stepsister, Jill (Greg) Prestridge of Flower Mound, Texas; and a host of relatives and friends.

Edward Delone ‘Fritz’ Pruett
Funeral services for Edward Delone “Fritz” Pruett, 78, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at Mt. Olive Church, the Revs. Charles Dixon and Vernon Willis officiating, with burial in Fairview Methodist Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Mr. Pruett died Monday, Sept. 18, at Cullman Health Care Center. He was born on May 23, 1928, in Alabama to William Jack and Idella Gregg Pruett. He was a farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include a daughter, Becky Pruett (Gary) Williams; three sons, Bobby Pruett, Bill (Vickie) Pruett and Mike Pruett; and eight grandchildren, Summer Williams (Ryan) Rusk, Justin Pruett, Tyson Pruett, Joseph Pruett, Whitney (Ben) Haynes, Catie Pruett, Chelsey Pruett and Conner Pruett.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
Elayne Ivey
Elayne Ivey of Cullman passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at University Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.
Rev. James Dolan Mayo
Funeral services for the Rev. James Dolan Mayo, 79, of Cullman, formerly of Birmingham, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at Overton Road Family Church in Irondale, the Revs. Rick Bradley, Mark Beaird and Brett Hogland officiating, with burial in Forest Crest Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Rev. Mayo died on Monday, Sept. 18.
