Cullman’s Carpenter wins in high jump

Cullman’s Lexi Carpenter claimed the Class 5A title in the high jump at the indoor state track meet in Priceville on Friday.

Carpenter captured the gold with a jump of 5-feet in the event. Savanna Knop placed sixth in the high jump for Cullman.

Senior Christina Chambers broke the Cullman school record in the 55-meter hurdles for the second time in two weeks with a time of 8.88 seconds. She qualified in second place and will race in the 55-hurdle finals today.

Emily Miller advanced to the 55-meter dash finals after qualifying sixth with a time of 7.83 seconds.

In other Cullman events, the 4 x 200-meter girls relay team finished seventh with a time of 1:59.32. Dallas Malone placed sixth in the 3,200-meter run, while Russell Miller finished sixth in the 800-meter run.

Overall, the Cullman boys are in eight place overall and the girls are in fourth entering the final day of competition.

Fairview’s Scott Hagan claimed the bronze in the Class 1-4A high jump, while Jeremy Cline place fifth for Fairview in the same event.

Hagan also advanced to the finals in the 55-hurdles after qualifying second in his heat.

Jennifer Craven placed seven for Fairview in the girls’ pole event.
