Ethel Ruth Pruett

Funeral services for Ethel Ruth Pruett, 74, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at Mt. Olive Congregational Methodist Church, the Revs. Charles Dixon and Vernon Willis officiating, with burial in Fairview Methodist Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pruett died Saturday, Jan. 21 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born on June 27, 1931, to David and Verdie Sheppard Walker. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Edward “Fritz” Pruett; three sons, Bobby (Elizabeth) Pruett, Bill (Vickie) Pruett and Mike Pruett, all of Cullman; a daughter, Becky (Gary) Williams of Tuscaloosa; a brother, Vaughn Walker of Cullman; a sister, Miriam Harvell of Cullman; and eight grandchildren, Summer Williams, Justin Pruett, Tyson Pruett, Joseph Pruett, Whitney Pruett, Catie Beth Pruett, Chelsie Pruett and Conner Pruett.

Visitation was Monday.



Willie Mae Bozeman

Funeral services for Willie Mae Bozeman, 71, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Dr. David Chambers officiating, with burial in Union Hill Cemetery in Eva.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bozeman died Sunday, Jan. 22 at Carraway Medical Center.



Phillip Olin Looney

Funeral services for Phillip Olin Looney, 57, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, the Rev. David Gamble officiating, with burial in Fairview West Cemetery in Hanceville.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Looney died Saturday, Jan. 21 at Woodland Medical Center.



John Day Jr.

Funeral services for John Day Jr., 81, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at Fairview West Baptist Church, the Rev. Marvin Bryan officiating, with burial in Fairview West Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Day died Saturday, Jan. 21 in Cullman. He was born in Cullman County on Sept. 12, 1924, to John Sr. and Jura Nichols Day.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred and Robert Day; two former wives, Ruth Grantham Day and Nell Parsons Day; and a longtime companion, Faye Mitchell.

Survivors include a son, Alton Day of Hanceville; a daughter, Suzanne Cowan of Ocala, Fla.; his companion, Lillie McDowell of Hanceville; four grandchildren, Sgt. Charlene Cowan of Ft. Meade, Md., Chelsea Day of Hanceville, Tameki Hall and Shane Day, both of Cullman; two brothers, Elmer Day and Claude Day, both of Hanceville; and four sisters, Mary Burns of Hanceville, Mickey Gohn of Mt. Olive, Loraine Stewart of Birmingham and Thelma Gohn of Missouri.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Basel Mauldin

Funeral services for Basel Mauldin, 91, of Bremen will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at Union Grove Baptist Church, the Rev. Wayne Williams officiating, with burial in Union Grove Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mauldin died Sunday, Jan. 22 in Cullman. He was born in Cullman County on July 1, 1914, to David Clayton and Julie Rivers Mauldin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Aulsie Mauldin of Bremen; a son, Lemuel Mauldin of Bremen; four grandsons, Donald (Mary) Mauldin, David (Karen Fitzek) Mauldin, Bill (Julie) Mauldin and Brian (Kristy) Mauldin; and seven great-grandchildren, Erika Lynn (Jason) Miller, Jonathan (Sherry) Mauldin, Zachary, Kayla, Tyler, Abby and Ashlyn Mauldin.

Visitation was Monday.



Emily Burke Anderson

Funeral services for Emily Burke Anderson, 31, of Jasper will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at Collins-Burke Chapel, Fred Lackey officiating, with burial in Oakhill Cemetery in Jasper.

Collins-Burke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Anderson died Saturday, Jan. 21 in Jasper in an automobile accident. She was employed with Collins-Burke Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Butch Anderson.

Survivors include her husband, Joey Anderson; a son, Preston Anderson; her parents, Michael and Saundra Burke; a sister, Amy Burke (Ashley) Sherer; two nieces, Katherine Sherer and Taylor Sherer; her mother-in-law, Diane Anderson; and a sister-in-law, Michele Anderson.

Pallbearers will be employees of Collins-Burke Funeral Home.

Visitation was Monday.



Martha Elizabeth Carter Nelson

Funeral services for Martha Elizabeth Carter Nelson, 104, of Hoover will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Dr. Mike McLemore and the Rev. Bill Franks officiating, with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens South.

Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nelson died Sunday, Jan. 22. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Allen Nelson; and a son, William Alfred Nelson.

Survivors include four sons, Kenneth W. (Billie Joe) Nelson, Carroll E. Nelson, Dr. Paul D. (Mary) Nelson and Wallace D. (Maggie) Nelson; three daughters, Maxine N. Gault, Ann N. (Bill) Franks and Patsy N. (Jerry) Clark; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice Odyssey, Debt Retirement Fund at Lakeside Baptist Church, Baptist Children’s Home or your local charity.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Hoover.



Ola Mae Rosser Good

Funeral services for Ola Mae Rosser Good, 94, of Panama City, Fla., formerly of Blount County, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at Blountsville Funeral Home Chapel, Ricky Harcrow officiating, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery near Blountsville.

Mrs. Good died Friday, Jan. 20 at Gulf Coast Medical Center.
