Cullman County Sheriff’s investigators are seeking the public assistance in solving a break-in at a county business and are willing to pay for it.

Investigator Jason Allen said Henderson’s General Merchandise on Alabama Highway 91 in Walter was burglarized late Tuesday night.

The break-in occurred between 10 p.m. Tuesday and midnight Wednesday, Allen said. The burglar took tobacco products and an undetermined amount of change after entering the store through a window.

“It’s happened several times in the last two years,” Allen said.

Allen is hoping someone passing by noticed something.

“Someone might have seen something,” he said. “Someone walking down the street or a car in the parking lot.”

Cullman County Sheriff Tyler Roden said the department is offering a reward of a minimum of $500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators.

“You can remain anonymous,” Roden said.

The sheriff stressed the importance of neighbors watching out for homes and businesses in their communities.

“It’s important that everyone look out for each other and watch for anything suspicious,” he said.

Businesses and churches, he said, are more prone to nighttime burglaries.

“We try to be vigilant,” Roden said of his deputies on patrol. It was a deputy who discovered the break-in. “It was just a little too late.”
