The 2004-05 Leadership Cullman County class is looking for local businesses that are striving to make the community a better place to live.
“We’re looking at businesses that care about more than just the bottom line,” said class president Jamie Troutman. “We’re looking for businesses that are giving back to the community.”
To accomplish that goal, the class established the “ACE” awards, which will be presented to local businesses at the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting at the Cullman Civic Center on Feb. 16, 2006. The class hopes to make this an annual award.
The “ACE” awards showcase businesses that are achieving economic and social progress in the community through ethical leadership, stewardship and community building activities that improve the quality of life for Cullman County citizens.
“We want this award to do for community involvement what the beautification award has done for curb side appeal,” Troutman said. “We want to recognize companies that are giving back versus just making a profit. It will give community-wide recognition to organizations setting the standard for good citizenship. Its mission statement is: ‘To recognize those Cullman County organizations committed to making a positive investment in our community.'”
The “ACE” awards will showcase businesses that perform specific community service activities that contribute to social and economic development of Cullman County.
The “ACE” Corporate Citizenship Awards will be presented in four categories:
• Less than 10 employees
• 10-49 employees
• 50-100 employees
• 100 + employees
The applicants must be registered Cullman County businesses. The applications are due by Jan. 27. Applications are available online (www.cullmanchamber.org) or by contacting the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce.
