Funeral services for David Charles Black, 46, of Cullman, will be at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 27, 2005, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, with Keith Whitley officiating.
Burial will take place at Welcome Baptist Church Cemetery.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Black died on Dec. 23, 2005.
He was born in Cullman on April 23, 1959. He was a mechanic at Wal-Mart.
He was preceded in death by by his mother, Opal Black, and a son, Jared Black.
Survivors include his wife, Karon Black; a daughter, Kandace Black; two sons, Adam Black and David Schultz; his father, Erwin Black; a brother, Darrell Black; three sisters, Carol (Brad) Scott of Savannah, Ga., Linda (Gary) Raburn and Donna Vest; and in-laws Guy and Jeannette Holcomb.
Barbara Ellen Johnson
Barbara Ellen Johnson, 59, of Cullman, died on Dec. 21, 2005.
She was born in Chicago to Milo Brown and Jane McNnis on March 6, 1946.
Leta June Taylor Stevens Phillips Allred
Mrs. Leta June Taylor Phillips Allred passed away on Dec. 25, 2005 at the age of 73 at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Gardendale.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Protestant Church in Cullman, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery. Mrs. Allred will Lie-in-State one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Bob Kurtz and the Rev. John Richter will be officiating.
Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Allred was born in Cullman to Howard Levi Taylor and Goldie Bell Tucker Taylor on April 14, 1932.
Survivors include two sons, Jack (Mary) Leroy Stevens Jr., of Cullman, and James (Erin) Taylor Stevens of Acworth, Ga.; two daughters, Judy (Edward) Stevens Dorrance of Decatur, Jina (Freddie) Phillips Smith of Hartselle; 12 grandchildren, Stacie (Brian) Stevens Owens, Ben Stevens, Taylor Stevens, Kasey Stevens, Erica Weatherford, Megan (Mauricio) Garcia, Jeremy Dorrance, Christi Dorrance, Freddie (Brandy) Smith, April (Zack) McLeroy, Heather Smith and Brandon Smith; seven great-grandchildren, Dylan Owen, Octavia Owen, Issac Smith, Miles McLeroy, Chandler Hallmark; Jasmine Garcia and Anthony Garcia; a brother, Pete (Carolyn) Taylor; two sisters, Brenda Taylor (Harry) Hydrick, Nancy Taylor; and a sister-in-law, June Smith Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Billy Joe Taylor.
Mrs. Allred was a loving mother and nurse. She was a nurse at Richard Clinic for Dr. Max and Jim Richard for 20 years, and was the plant nurse for King Edward Cogars in Cullman and Jacksonville, Fla.
When she moved back to Cullman, she was a nurse for Dr. Thomas Montgomery until she became disabled. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Protestant Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the music fund at St. John’s Evangelical Protestant Church.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Moss-Service Funeral Home today, Dec. 27, 2005.
Cecilia Schaefers Nicklaus Kinney
Funeral services for Cecilia Schaefers Nicklaus Kinney, 81, of Cullman, will be at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. John O’Donnell, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will take place in Cullman Memorial Gardens.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Kinney died Dec. 24, 2005, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 6, 1924, to Joseph and Theresa Bauer Schaefers. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Daniel Kinney and Eugene Nicklaus, and brothers Edward Schaefers and Bernard Schaefers.
Survivors include four brothers, Theodore (Rachel) Schaefers, Jimmy (Nancy) Schaefers, Tommy (Hulda) Schaefers and Melvin (Sue) Schaefers, all of Cullman; a sister, Helen (Harold) Davis, of West Point; two sisters-in-law, Jospehine Schaefers and Elna Jean (Richard) Schaefers Mummert; several nieces and nephews; longtime friend Theresa Trembley and nurse Jennifer Nelson.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
Thomas Levi Daniel
Funeral services for Thomas Levi Daniel, 94, of Hanceville, will be Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vernon Willis and Rev. Jody Robinson officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Berlin with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 27, 2005, at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Daniel died Dec. 25, 2005 at Hanceville Nursing Home.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1911, to Monroe and Nancy Dorrough Daniel in Randoph County.
He was a farmer and a partner with his son Wheeler in a grocery store in West Point from 1966 to 1976.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Callie Spratlin Daniel, five brothers and eight sisters.
Survivors include son James Wheeler (Jean) Daniel of Vinemont; three grandchildren, James Craig (Cindi) Daniel of Cullman, Darion Wade (Kristi) Daniel of Cullman and Gina Marletta Westmoreland of Vinemont; four great-granchildren, Jacob Daniel, Matthew Daniel, Callie Westmoreland and Casey Westmoreland; one brother, Jeffie (Dorothy) Robinson of Roanoke; a sister-in-law, Ethel Robinson, of Hogansville, Ga; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Cullman County.
James V. Johnson
James V. Johnson, 86, of Lincoln Park, Mich., died Dec. 18, 2005.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 28, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. He will be buried at Ebenezer Cemetery in Vinemont Dec. 29 at 11 a.m.
He was born to Harvey Johnson and Martha Corley Johnson in Alabama on Aug. 4, 1919.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Ralph Johnson, and a son, James Paul Johnson.
Survivors include son Jackie Ralph Zills of Lincoln Park, Mich.; three daughters, Linda Johnson of Lincoln Park, Mich., Martha Ann Woodall of Hartselle and Sara Jo Handley of Cullman.
Jimmy Douglas Brown
Jimmy Douglas Brown, 62, of Crane Hill, died Dec. 25, 2005, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Brown was born June 22, 1943. He was a foreman at Buettner Bros. Lumber Co. for 32 years.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his father, Robert Woodrow Brown, and his mother, Mary Francis Gibson.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Pat Akers Brown; two sons, Jimmy D. (Barbara) Brown Jr. and Monte J. (Kimberly) Brown; two daughters, Kimberly (Tim) Walker and Gina Brown; three sisters, Judy (George) Swann, Peggy Mitchell and Nancy Austin; six grandchildren, Jodi Beth (Terry) Hyatt, Seth Walker, Holli Seymore, Erica Brown, Hanna Bell and Holli Bell; and great-grandson Randy Hyatt.

Cleo West Herndon
Funeral services for Cleo West Herndon, 89, of Hanceville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28 at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Bro. Larry Pruett officiating. Burial will take place in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Herndon died Dec. 25 at Cullman Regional Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 23, 1916 to Lecil Hutson and Ethel Camp. She was a homemaker and nurse aid for many years at the Cullman Nursing Home and Hanceville Nursing Home.
Mrs. Herndon was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Leroy West and F.L. Herndon; two brothers, Clifford Hutson and Dewey Hutson; and her sister Clara Elsbery.
Survivors include her son, Doyle (Carolyn) West of Powder Springs, Ga.; three daughters, Helen (Frank) Wright of Collinsville, Ill., Bonnie (Theron) Bishop of Cullman, and Sheila (Tony) Crumbley of Trussville; three stepdaughters, Fay Pitts of Moody, Betty Jo Henderson of Florence and Sue Curl of Garden City; her brother Leonard Hutson of Cullman; four sisters, Vivian Graham of Vinemont, Velma Jacobs of Hanceville, Doris Brisco of Gardendale and Mary Hughes of Hanceville; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 27, 2005, and from 9 a.m. until the service begins Wednesday.
Joyce Ann Holmes
Funeral services for Joyce Ann Holmes, 57, of Hanceville, will be Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, George Redding officiating. Burial will take place in Jones Cemetery.

Mrs. Holmes died Dec. 26 at Cullman Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 8, 1948 to Martin Wayne Hyde and Mary James. She was a hostess.
Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her husband, Horace Holmes; two sons, John Holmes and Wesley Hyde; two daughters, Holly Holmes Cox and Tammy Holmes Kaser; her mother, Mary James; her brother, Larry Hyde; two sisters, Betty Cooke and Barbara Witcher; and two grandchildren, Eric Murphree and Brandon Kaser.
Visitation will be today, Dec. 27, 2005, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Arthur Conrad Brown Jr.
Funeral services for Arthur Conrad “Big Boy” Brown Jr., 80, of Holly Pond will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at Redan Baptist Church in Holly Pond, with interment in Union Grove Cemetery. Rev. Andrew Chambers will officiate. Mr. Brown will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until funeral time. Masonic rites and military honors will follow the service at Union Grove Cemetery in Holly Pond.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Annie Gustava Shedd Brown, and his wife Esther Wall Brown; his parents Arthur C. (Sam) Brown, Sr. and Eva Jessie Lamberth Brown; three brothers, Morris Brown, Ted Brown and William Brown; three sisters, Ruby Ellis, Maybelle Freeman and Bernice Purvis.
He is survived by his daughters, Joyce (George) Krigbaum of Cullman, Elisa (Larry) Kelsoe of Holly Pond and Regina Swindle of Holly Pond; six grandchildren, Lechelle (Lavaughn) Butts, Tanya (Duane) Douglas, Emma (Joe) Garrett, Bryan (Jennifer) Holcombe, Jennifer (Gustavo) Garcia and George Kelsoe; two step-grandchildren, Andrew (Kelly) Krigbaum and Robert Krigbaum.
He is also survived by two brothers, Charles (Margie) Brown and Alfred (Dot) Brown of Cullman; two sisters, Louise (Charles) Taylor and Marie (Billy) Jones of Georgia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Brown was a long time owner of Brown’s Grocery in Holly Pond. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific theatre. He was a life member of the VFW, Post 10774 and also past Worshipful Master of the Blountsville Masonic Lodge, Chapter 145.
Visitation will be at Holly Pond Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
