Almost two dozen wrecks recorded in just two days

Thursday’s showers contributed to a rash of traffic accidents across the area.
A State Trooper spokesman reported that the Decatur Post worked a total of 22 accidents Thursday. Twelve of those accidents, including one fatality, occurred in Cullman County.
Three other traffic accidents in the area Thursday injured a total of five people.
A single-vehicle accident around 3:45 p.m. injured two Vinemont residents.
Corey Lindsey, 17, was injured when he apparently lost control of the 2000 Nissan he was driving and crashed on County Road 1184 about two miles north of Cullman. Also injured was a passenger, Celeste Swann, 16.
Both occupants were wearing their seat belts, troopers said.
A 4:15 accident 10 miles east of Cullman on County Road 1682 injured two people.
Carolyn Bailey, 16, of Cullman, was injured when the 1986 Chevrolet she was driving collided with a 1987 Chevrolet driven by Tobie Elrod, 55, of Cullman.
Both victims were wearing their seat belts, troopers said.
A three-vehicle accident around 5:40 p.m. one mile north of Cullman on U.S. Highway 31 injured a Hanceville woman.
Rebecca Wolfe, 50, was injured when the 2002 Lincoln she was driving collided with a 1970 GMC driven by Gary Chapman, 48, of Cullman. Chapman was not injured. Wolfe was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident, troopers said.
A third vehicle was reportedly involved in the accident, but no description was available because the vehicle left the scene, troopers said.
