Funeral services for Alvin Whisenhunt, 78, of Vinemont, will be Monday, July 6, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Father Kevin McGrath officiating, interment to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Whisenhunt died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cullman on May 4, 1931 to John and Christine Clark Whisenhunt.
He was a retired employee of Ward Greenhouses who was currently employed at Tyson Foods. He was also a self-employed poultry grower. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a retired member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He also held a Pilgrim’s degree from the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arville Whisenhunt.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Schmuck Whisenhunt; three sons, Bill (Ellesha) Whisenhunt, Michael Whisenhunt and John (Joyce) Whisenhunt; four daughters, Margaret (Bobby) Wiley, Tina (Richard) Craft, Angela (Keith) Perry and Suzanne Whisenhunt (Jan Wallace); a brother Luther (Maxine) Whisenhunt; a sister Mary Allred; 11 grandchildren, Chad (Lori) Whisenhunt, Miranda (Joey) Richardson, Bryan Wiley, Daniel Wiley, Patrick Wiley, Sarah Craft, Tyler Craft, Nathan Whisenhunt, Wesley Ivey, Tessa Whisenhunt and Ashley Wallace; five great-grandchildren, Justin Haney, Caleb Whisenhunt, Logan Whisenhunt, Austin Richardson and Faith Richardson.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 5, 2009 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m.
