MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A prison spokesman says an Alabama corrections officer has been arrested for trying to smuggle contraband into St. Clair Correctional Facility.
The prison system said that 23-year-old Deandre Price was arrested Tuesday. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and promoting contraband within a state correctional facility.
A prison spokesman wrote in an emailed statement that investigators searched Price when he reported for work Tuesday. They found drugs and other contraband in his possession. The prison system did not elaborate on what the other items were.
Price resigned after his arrest.
Court records were unavailable to determine if he has an attorney.
