Deputies arrest area man on sexual child abuse charge
By Patrick McCrelessCullman County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a local man Sunday for allegedly sexually abusing a child.
David Horace Hyde, 46 of Arkadelphia was charged with sexual abuse of a child less than 12-years-old.
According to sheriff’s reports, Hyde was allegedly acquainted with the female victim prior to his arrest.
Sheriff Tyler Roden said deputies began investigating the case on May 19, when the victim’s mother reported the incident.
Roden said the abuse allegedly occurred at Hyde’s residence.
“It is suspected this abuse had occurred at least a year ago and the abuse had occurred over a period of time,” Roden said.
Roden noted investigators were still unsure how long the alleged abuse occurred.
“But there were several incidences of abuse that occurred,” Roden said.
Further details concerning the case were unavailable.
Hyde was incarcerated at the Cullman County Detention Center but has since been released on a $10,000 bond.
Sexual abuse of a child less than 12-years-old is a Class B felony, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
