10:00 a.m.: Holly Pond man arrested for 7 church burglaries

By Patrick McCreless

A Holly Pond man is behind bars after he allegedly burglarized seven area churches in one night last week.

Issac Michael Guy, 19, was arrested Friday at a residence on County Road 1677 and charged with seven counts of burglary in the third degree.

“He has a history of theft,” said Cullman County Sheriff Tyler Roden.

According to reports, the churches, which were all located in the Baileyton and Holly Pond areas, were burglarized at night between Jan. 10 and Jan. 11. Taken was thousands of dollars worth of electronic equipment including stereos and televisions.

Roden said Guy’s arrest stemmed from a tip provided by a local citizen.

“Just last week, one of our patrol deputies received information from someone in the community about a possible suspect and provided a name and where the stolen property was taken to,” Roden said. “Upon further investigation, we discovered that information was correct.”

Roden said an investigator located some of the stolen property shortly after following up on the tip, but did not locate Guy. However, the investigator did obtain the County Road 1677 address a possible residence for Guy, Roden said.

“He communicated that back to some deputies on patrol and they located him at that residence,” Roden said. “They also found more of the stolen property in the offender’s car.”

Roden added that during the course of the investigation, Guy later led deputies to a vacant trailer on County Road 1742 where more of the stolen property was recovered.

“We were able to recover a vast majority of the stolen property,” Roden said.

Roden wanted to thank everyone who helped solve the case.

“It was good work,” he said. “We got help from an individual in the community and patrol deputies and investigators worked together really well and quickly.”

Guy is incarcerated at the Cullman County Detention Center on a $40,000 bond.

Burglary in the third degree is a Class C felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
