Cullman deputies arrest alleged child sex abuser

By Patrick McCreless

Cullman County Sheriff’s investigators charged a Bremen man Wednesday with sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old.

Investigators arrested Jackie Lloyd Sheridan, 63 at his residence on County Road 25 after a nearly month-long investigation.

According to sheriff’s reports, the alleged sexual abuse occurred in mid-November.

“A couple of incidents were reported of inappropriate touching,” said Chief Deputy Tony Quick.

Quick noted that Sheridan and the victim were acquaintances prior to the incidents.

Quick said after the initial reports, the victim was taken to the Cullman Child Advocacy Center.

“Statements were taken from the child,” Quick said. “Probable cause was given and a warrant was issued.”

Quick said Sheridan has no prior arrests concerning a sexually-related crime.

Sheridan was transported to the Cullman County Detention Center but was soon released on a $15,000 bond.

Sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old is a Class B felony, punishable by as much as 20 years in prison.
