Accidents leave several injured
By Brittany WoodbyThree people were injured Wednesday after the driver of a minivan struck a pedestrian and ran into a parked 18-wheeler.
The accident happened at 10:25 a.m. eight miles west of Cullman on U.S. Highway 278 near Kugler Creek.
Barbara Jackson, 60, of Addison was the driver of the 1996 Dodge Caravan. She and passenger Michael Denton, 18, of Addison were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
Larry Braswell, 57 of Colombus, Miss., was the driver of the tractor trailer. Alabama State Troopers said Braswell was outside of his truck when he was struck by Jackson. He was then airlifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
Troopers also responded to a separate two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning. The accident happened on Interstate 65 four miles north of Cullman. Megan Morgan, 21, was the driver of a 2002 Jeep and was injured in the wreck. She was wearing a seatbelt. Rodney Nealey, 48 of Helena, was not injured. It is unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt.
